  • CHELSEA ADKINS

    CAMP COUNSELOR | BAT CAVE, NC NATIVE

    Chelsea brings 13 years of experience as a dedicated public school teacher and also spent many summers as a camp counselor, creating lasting memories and fostering a positive, supportive environment. As a Bat Cave resident, she deeply understands the impact of Hurricane Helene, as well as the values and culture of WNC. She is very much looking forward to combining her passion for the holidays and summer camp to bring some much needed Christmas cheer to families who need it most this season!

    CAMP CHRISTMAS DIRECTORS | HENDERSONVILLE, NC NATIVE

    Whitney (Foreman) Gorbett, a native of Hendersonville, NC, has been actively involved in the Hendersonville and Bat Cave area since October 1st, working alongside her family, childhood friends, and local residents. She is serving as community organizer for their county long term recovery group. She currently resides in Kingston Springs, TN. Whitney owns an event planning and production company called Woven, which specializes in curating events and retreats.

    Cole and Amy Bruce organized relief efforts for their community during the Nashville flood of 2010. They have been a tremendous support to NC since Helene. As owners of two restaurants in Kingston Springs, they are deeply committed to community and nourishment. They are ready to welcome anyone in need of comfort and respite from the devastation.

    Mike Turpin developed his passion for feeding people through numerous outdoor adventures and river trips. After the 2010 flood in middle Tennessee, he assisted Amy and Cole in providing meals for volunteers. Likewise, when tornadoes struck Kingston Springs, he utilized his catering rig to feed first responders and displaced families. Mike serves as the Executive Director of the Ark Community Resource Center in South Cheatham County, where he helps families facing food insecurity and other social service challenges.

WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN:

Whitney (Foreman) Gorbett, a native of Hendersonville, NC, has been actively working in the Hendersonville and Bat Cave area since October 1st alongside her family, childhood friends, and residents. She currently lives in Kingston Springs, TN, which is located just outside of Nashville. The support from the locals in Kingston Springs has been invaluable throughout her journey to provide relief for her hometown. Once again, they’re bringing warmth and compassion into devastation with the generous donation of Bethany Hills Camp.

Whitney’s hometown community, along with residents of Kingston Springs and Nashville, will be organizing and running Camp Christmas.
